Persistent Organic Pollutants (#POPs) are pervasive in our surroundings. Their decomposition process is significantly slower compared to other compounds, which underscores the importance of reducing their use in our daily lives and properly disposing of waste containing POPs. These points were emphasized during the lectures presented at the #UNDPBiH workshop "POPs Substances and Their Impact on Health and the Environment," held in Banja Luka.

The workshop brought together experts in environmental protection and waste management, representatives from public health institutions, and activists from non-governmental organizations addressing environmental issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They all agreed that tackling the issue of #POPs substances requires a multidisciplinary approach to accurately interpret and adequately respond to this matter.

Exposure to #POPs has enduring consequences on human health and the environment.

This event was organized as part of the #UNDPBiH project "Environmentally Sound Management of Persistent Organic Pollutants in the Industrial and Waste Management Sectors in BiH," funded by Sweden.
