The impacts of climate change are increasingly influencing our security and shaping societies' functioning in the years ahead. As our physical environment experiences significant shifts, we face formidable challenges with potential economic, social, and political consequences for entire regions. In response, a new form of climate diplomacy is emerging, leveraging a comprehensive range of policies, including development cooperation, conflict prevention efforts, and humanitarian assistance, alongside traditional climate change adaptation and mitigation measures.

To underscore the urgency of these endeavors in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), UNDP organized a Climate Action Week commencing on June 5, 2022, coinciding with World Environment Day. In collaboration with partners, UNDP orchestrated various events throughout the week, such as the Clean Up Hunt, Tree Planting initiatives in Sarajevo and Srbac, Frenkie Goes Green, Youth Speak Forum, Ecology Class, as well as Round table discussions in Doboj on "Floods, Climate Change, and Strategies for Prevention," and in Tuzla on "Steps to Making Decarbonization a Sustainable Choice."

The week culminated with a significant closing event, the High-level Conference 'Climate Action in BiH,' held on June 10 at the Parliamentary Assembly, attended by over 130 participants, including mayors of BiH cities, ambassadors, academics, experts, politicians, and youth. The conference focused on discussing the adverse effects of climate change and the crucial role that all stakeholders must play in climate actions.

Throughout the Climate Action Week, a core message resonated: "My list of priorities: 1. Planet Earth," echoing the global UN message with the hashtag #OnlyOnePlanet. BORAM, in collaboration with UNDP, developed the slogan and visual identity for the Climate Action Week. As 2022 marked the European Year of Youth, the week placed special emphasis on the role of young people in climate actions. Over 100 young individuals actively participated by sharing messages, engaging in field activities, and contributing to discussions on their role in climate actions.

BORAM's photo and video crew documented all events, resulting in the production of three impactful videos showcasing the activities from the Climate Action Week. Additionally, they prepared short photo stories and social media posts to further amplify the message and reach a broader audience.
