Regional Media Event- Media integrity in the age of disinformation

In April 2022, 20 young journalists from across the Western Balkans visited Sarajevo to learn and share experiences and information about Sarajevo its history of siege, to visit exhibitions and significant places from the period 1992- 1995. The visit was a part of the ‘Regional Media Event’ that was a EU supported project designed to sustain efforts on raising professional standards in journalism among young journalists from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans. The project aimed to offer lessons about professional journalism and its current challenges to the new generation of journalists, and to raise the awareness about journalistic standards.
The central event – panel on Media Integrity in the age of disinformation included the participation of media professionals, 20 prominent young journalists from the Western Balkans who attended in person, media professionals as well as citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. It also gathered some of the most renowned journalists in role of panellists: Roger Cohen from The New York Times, Rémy Ourdan from Le Monde, Javier Espinosa from El Mundo, Ed Vulliamy from The Guardian and Observer, Christiane Amanpour from CNN, Aida Čerkez, former AP correspondent from BiH, and Nadina Maličbegović from Al Jazeera Balkans.
BORAM organized the main event, and provided complete technical and logistic support, produced media and promotional material, promoted the event, and made arrangements for the arrival of guest journalists, and the tour of historical sites.
