Strengthening media literacy of young people in BiH

Projects

More than 100 young people from ten BiH’ s communities participated in the activities of the project Strengthening Media Literacy of Youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Not all that is written is true), such as workshops and competition, that helped them to better understand their media environment and how to recognize fake news and misinformation.

Workshops were held in 10 cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and high school students competed in an analysis of media and information literacy of young people in the digital age. The winners were announced at the final conference of the project, held on April 26, 2022 in Sarajevo.

Ten tutorials were produced on the importance of fact checking, misinformation and fake news that are present in media space, and it is very likely that young people will come across such content. These tutorials were distributed to primary and high schools, as well as non-governmental organisations in BiH and can be used free of charge for education and training purposes in schools.

A media campaign was conducted. Also, influencers participated in the social media campaign and played an important role in the workshops which they attended online or in person and shared their experiences. They also appeared in introductory part of the video tutorials, sending strong messages. Together with Media Centar, BORAM was responsible for the above communication activities, including organisation of the workshops, development of media and promotional materials, production, education, implementation of the campaign, and reporting.
