In April 2022, a group of young journalists from the Western Balkans came together in Sarajevo as part of the 'Regional Media Event,' a EU-supported initiative aimed at enhancing professional standards in journalism among young media practitioners from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans. During the five-day visit, these journalists immersed themselves in Sarajevo's history, particularly focusing on the siege that took place from 1992 to 1995.

The highlight of the event was a panel discussion on "Media Integrity in the Age of Disinformation," where 20 prominent young journalists, media professionals, and citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding region gathered. The panel featured distinguished journalists such as Roger Cohen from The New York Times, Rémy Ourdan from Le Monde, Javier Espinosa from El Mundo, Ed Vulliamy from The Guardian and Observer, Christiane Amanpour from CNN, Aida Čerkez (former AP correspondent from BiH), and Nadina Maličbegović from Al Jazeera Balkans.

The entire event was conceptualized and organized by BORAM, which also developed the visual identity and created animated video presentations of the panelists and young journalists from the Western Balkans. They also prepared printed promo packages for participants featuring the hashtag #4MediaIntegrity and sent out invitations to the participants, media professionals, and the public. The event was made accessible to a wider audience through live streaming on Facebook, capturing the discussions and insights shared during the panel.

In addition to the panel discussion, BORAM orchestrated a comprehensive study trip for the visiting journalists, providing guided tours to eleven significant locations in Sarajevo. They efficiently coordinated the travel arrangements and accommodations for the young journalists from the Western Balkans, ensuring a smooth and productive visit.

Overall, the 'Regional Media Event' accomplished its objectives of passing on the valuable lessons of professional journalism and raising awareness about journalistic standards to the new generation of journalists in the region. The visit to Sarajevo not only offered insights into its historical significance but also provided a unique opportunity for the young journalists to learn from established professionals and share their experiences, fostering collaboration and growth in the field of journalism.
